re the Agency in Hongkong and China of the Texas Company, Houston & New York
Since I had the honor to report to you on the 24th ulto. (as in copy enclosed), the following exchange of cables has taken place, that is to say:
Your cable 30th May 1916 (received 31st, a holiday here intervening):
"Speaking generally Dodwells would be acceptable, but impossible speak definitely until terms of proposed agreement known to Governor.

My answer 31st May 1916: "Pray thank Secretary State his cable thirtieth regarding Dodwells stop. Terms of proposed Texas agreement to be exactly those which Holyoak Hongkong, partner Reiss and member His Excellency's Legislative Council, accepted, as written you eighth May page three, substituting merely Dodwells for Reiss.
Sanders"
Your cable 3rd June 1916:
"Your telegram first, have Dodwells London agreed terms mentioned, if not useless consult Governor Under Secretary Colonial Office."
